Terms of Use

Last updated 2026-07-11 · Applies to the v0.1.0-beta.x private beta

By using the Bifrost private beta you agree to the following. This is a plain-language beta agreement; a fuller version will accompany the public release.

1. It's beta software

Bifrost is pre-release and provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. It may crash, lose data, fail to transfer, or change behavior between builds. Do not use it for anything critical or irreplaceable. Keep your own backups of anything you care about.

2. Data may be reset

The beta runs against a staging environment. Your account, directory record, and community posts may be wiped between beta builds without notice.

3. You're responsible for what you share

You control which folders you share and with whom. You are responsible for the content you share and for having the right to share it. Don't use Bifrost to share illegal content or to infringe others' rights. Because transfers are end-to-end encrypted and peer-to-peer, we cannot see or moderate file contents — that responsibility is yours.

4. Community board (Pulse)

Keep posts constructive and lawful. We may remove posts and, for abuse, restrict accounts. Don't post others' private information.

5. Acceptable use

Don't attempt to attack, overload, or abuse the relay or other users, probe for vulnerabilities without permission, or use the service to break the law.

6. License & cost

The Bifrost software is proprietary. The beta grants you a personal, revocable license to run it for testing and feedback. It does not transfer any ownership or source rights.

The beta is provided entirely free of charge: there is nothing to buy, no paid tier, and we do not accept payments, donations, or sponsorships.

7. Changes & termination

We may update these terms or end the beta at any time. We can suspend access for violations of these terms.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any data loss, damages, or losses arising from use of the beta.
